Demo MapLink
On this page
Travel between the servers of a network with one character. Walk up to a MapLink terminal, pick a destination, and you reconnect on the other map with your health, wounds, stomach, quickbar and everything you carry. Terminals with a vehicle pad can also ship a car to another server, where you claim it with a code.
- One character across the network. Your gear, health and condition travel with you, and the server you last played on is the one you always come back to.
- Terminals in the world, each with its own list of destinations. One destination can have several landing spots.
- Tickets pay for travel. Light travellers go free. Heavy loads cost more.
- Safe hand-over. Your old character isn't removed until the destination has you. If anything fails, you stay where you were.
- Arrival protection. 2 minutes of no damage and no shooting when you land.
- Vehicle shipping. Park a car on a terminal's pad, ship it with its fuel and cargo, and claim it at the other end with a 6-character code.
- Wrong server? No problem. Join any server in the network and you're sent to the one your character is on.
The numbers on this page are the defaults. Servers can change most of them.
How the network works
- You have one character for the whole network. It lives on the server you last played on.
- Joining a different server sends you back to the one your character is on. The game reconnects you by itself. The only way to move your character to another map is a terminal.
- Arriving replaces your character on that server. If you had an older character there, it and everything it carried are gone. Anything you stored in tents, barrels or bases on that map stays where it is.
Items
| Item | What it is |
|---|---|
| Map Link Ticket | Pays for travel and vehicle shipping. 2x1, weighs 1 g, stacks to 10. Drag one stack onto another to merge them |
Terminals are placed by the server. They use world objects such as a trail map sign, a small boat wreck or a C-130 wreck. Aim at one and the action reads Open Map Link Terminal. Where tickets come from (loot, traders, rewards) is up to each server.
Travelling
- Carry enough Map Link Tickets (Ticket cost). They count anywhere on your character, including inside backpacks and other containers.
- Aim at a terminal and use Open Map Link Terminal, standing or crouched.
- On the TRAVEL tab, pick a destination.
- The tickets are taken and the game reconnects you to the destination. You arrive at that destination's landing spot.
Esc or CANCEL closes the menu.
The travel list
Each row shows a destination with its cost and your balance, for example 3 / 12 tickets:
- Gold cost: you can afford it. Red: you can't, and the row is greyed out.
- A green dot means the destination is online. A grey dot and (offline) mean it isn't, and the row can't be picked.
- On cooldown — wait 0:08 means you transferred too recently. Every row is greyed out until it counts down. The menu then closes, and you open it again.
- No destinations available from this terminal. means the server hasn't set this terminal up.
The bottom of the menu shows what you carry and how many tickets you have. These numbers are taken when the menu opens. If you drop or pick up gear, close the menu and open it again.
Ticket cost
The cost depends on everything you carry, including the item in your hands.
| Carried weight | Tickets |
|---|---|
| Up to 15 kg | Free |
| Over 15 kg, up to 25 kg | 2 |
| Over 25 kg, up to 35 kg | 3 |
| Over 35 kg, up to 45 kg | 4 |
| Every further 10 kg | +1 |
A server can charge more for some destinations, and the row always shows the real price. Smaller ticket stacks are used first.
If your load changed and you can no longer pay, you get Need 3 ticket(s), you have 2. Drop gear or buy tickets. and nothing happens.
Cooldown
After a transfer you wait 10 seconds before you can transfer again. It counts from your last completed transfer, from any server.
During the transfer
- Your character on the old server freezes and can't be hurt while the destination takes over.
- The screen shows Transferring to Livonia... and Do not close the game or disconnect. The usual login countdown is skipped.
- On arrival the screen stays black with Now Arriving while your gear loads in, then fades in.
- Servers running the LBmaster spawn menu don't show it to you on arrival.
If something goes wrong: when the destination doesn't take you within 2 minutes, the transfer is cancelled. Your character stays on the server you left, where you stood, with everything you carried. Tickets spent on a failed transfer aren't refunded. If the main menu comes back during the transfer screen (after 30 seconds at most), wait 2 minutes, then join any server in the network. You'll be sent to the right one.
Arrival protection
For 2 minutes after you land:
- You can't be hurt.
- You can't fire a weapon or swing a melee attack. You can still raise and aim.
A Protected: 1:59 countdown shows how long is left. Some landing spots have a shorter or longer window, or none.
What comes with you
- Everything you carry: clothing, backpack, the item in your hands, and every item inside them, in the same places. Items keep their health, quantity, wetness, temperature, food stage, liquid, energy and on/off state. Weapons keep their attachments, magazine, chambered round, jam, fire mode, zeroing and zoom. LBmaster skins are kept.
- Your quickbar.
- Your body: the same character model, health, blood, shock, the health of each body part, blood type, beard, and bloody hands.
- Injuries and illness: open cuts, broken legs, diseases, infections and their stages, and temporary immunity.
- Food and drink: energy, water and what's still in your stomach.
- Your stats: playtime, distance travelled, players and infected killed, longest shot.
Your position doesn't carry over. You always land at the destination's landing spot.
Shipping a vehicle
Some terminals have a vehicle pad: a marked spot next to the terminal. The SHIP VEHICLE and CLAIM SHIPMENT tabs work only at those terminals. At other terminals they're greyed out.
Sending
- Park the vehicle on the pad. Everyone must be out of it. Within 5 m of the pad centre counts. If more than one empty vehicle is there, the closest is picked.
- Open the terminal and go to SHIP VEHICLE. It shows Vehicle on pad: Sedan (1450.0 kg). Not sure where the pad is? SHOW PAD AREA (2 MIN) puts a beam on each corner for 2 minutes, visible to everyone nearby.
- Pick a destination pad. Each row reads destination — pad and shows the cost.
- Check the cost on the confirmation screen and press CONFIRM SHIPMENT.
- The vehicle disappears and the SHIPPED screen shows your claim code. Write it down. It's shown once and nobody can look it up for you.
Shipping costs 10 tickets plus 1 for every 50 kg the vehicle weighs, cargo included. A 1,500 kg vehicle costs 40 tickets.
If the shipment fails (the travel service doesn't answer), the vehicle stays on the pad but the tickets are gone.
Timing
| Default | |
|---|---|
| In transit, can't be claimed | 6 hours |
| Then, claimable with your code only | 24 hours |
| Then, anyone at that pad can claim it | 24 hours |
| Then | The shipment is deleted |
The SHIPPED screen shows the real times for that destination, for example Arrives in 6h 0m and Public 1d 0h after arrival.
Claiming
Claim at the pad you shipped to, on the destination server. Other pads on that server don't list it.
- Open the terminal and go to CLAIM SHIPMENT.
- Type your code and press CLAIM. Upper or lower case doesn't matter.
- The vehicle appears on the pad. Clear the pad first.
LIST PUBLIC lists the shipments waiting at this pad. Ones still under their code show Code required and can't be clicked. Ones marked Public can be claimed by clicking them, by anyone.
What ships
- The vehicle's overall and per-part health (engine, doors, windows and so on).
- Fuel, oil, brake fluid and coolant.
- Every attachment (wheels, doors, battery, spark plug, radiator) and everything in its cargo, with their contents.
Ownership and locks don't ship. Relock the vehicle after you claim it. The vehicle arrives on the pad facing north.

- Joining a server puts you on a different one: that's the network sending you to your character. Use a terminal to move.
- You can't join any server in the network: the travel service is probably down. Servers refuse logins until it's back.
- Open Map Link Terminal doesn't appear: aim at the terminal object itself, standing or crouched. It also doesn't appear while one of your transfers is in progress.
