Demo MCSP
On this page
The Multi-Caliber Sniper Platform: a bolt-action sniper rifle that swaps between .308 Win and .338 Norma Mag by changing its barrel. It has its own magazines, a handguard, a stock, a suppressor and a muzzle brake, in four colours.
- Two calibres, one rifle. Swap the barrel to turn a .308 into a .338 and back. The old barrel comes back to you.
- .308 Win takes vanilla .308 rounds, as fast as the M14.
- .338 Norma Mag does 220 damage per hit, against 150 for the strongest vanilla rifles. It one-shots an unarmoured torso out to about 1,280 m and kills through a plate carrier in two shots.
- Detachable magazines for both calibres. Single rounds can be chambered directly.
- Four attachment slots: optic, muzzle (suppressor or muzzle brake), handguard and stock.
- Four colours: black, white, sand and green.

Colours
The rifle, barrels, handguard and stock come in four colours. The colour is in brackets after the name, for example MCSP .338 (Sand):
| Colour | Name in game |
|---|---|
| Black | No suffix, for example MCSP .308 |
| White | (White) |
| Sand | (Sand) |
| Green | (Green) |
- Colours are cosmetic. Any colour of handguard or stock fits any colour of rifle.
- The barrel sets the rifle's colour. Fitting a sand .338 barrel to a black .308 gives you a sand .338. See Swapping calibre.
- Magazines, ammunition, the suppressor and the muzzle brake come in one colour.
Getting started
- Load rounds into a magazine for your rifle's calibre: vanilla .308 Win for the .308, .338 Norma Mag for the .338.
- Attach the magazine.
- Add attachments as you find them.
You can also chamber a single loose round directly. The rifle uses the CZ 550's bolt, reload and handling animations.
- Each calibre only takes its own MCSP magazine. Vanilla CZ 550 magazines don't fit.
- The .308 takes regular and tracer .308 Win rounds.
Swapping calibre
The MCSP has no barrel slot. You change calibre by combining the rifle with the other barrel:
| Rifle | + Barrel | Gives you |
|---|---|---|
| MCSP .308 | .338 Barrel | MCSP .338, and the rifle's .308 Barrel back |
| MCSP .338 | .308 Barrel | MCSP .308, and the rifle's .338 Barrel back |
- Strip the rifle first: take off the optic, magazine, handguard and stock. The action won't appear while any of them is fitted.
- Put the rifle or the barrel in your hands with the other in your inventory, and use Convert .308 to .338 (or Convert .338 to .308). It takes 2 seconds.
- The rifle changes calibre and keeps its condition. The barrel you took off drops on the ground in front of you.
- The new rifle takes the colour of the barrel you fitted. The barrel you get back has the colour the rifle was. Swap barrels between rifles to mix colours.
- A ruined rifle or barrel can't be converted.
- Keep the spare barrel. It's the only way back to the other calibre.
Attachments
| Slot | Takes |
|---|---|
| Optic | Vanilla rifle optics that fit the M4: ACOG (4x and 6x), Mk 4, Starlight, M68, T3N, reflex, holographic, BUIS, carry handle |
| Muzzle | MCSP Suppressor or MCSP Muzzle Brake |
| Handguard | MCSP Handguard |
| Stock | MCSP Stock |
Hunting scopes, PSO scopes and vanilla suppressors don't fit.
What each attachment does
| Attachment | Recoil | Sway | Other |
|---|---|---|---|
| MCSP Handguard | 30% less | 35% less | |
| MCSP Stock | 25% less | 70% less | |
| MCSP Suppressor | 10% less | 30% more | Suppresses the shot, slightly tighter grouping |
| MCSP Muzzle Brake | 50% less | 10% more | Slightly louder, tighter grouping |
The effects stack. With a handguard, stock and muzzle brake the rifle kicks about a quarter as much as bare. With the suppressor instead of the brake, about half.
Handling
| MCSP .308 | MCSP .338 | |
|---|---|---|
| Action | Bolt-action | Bolt-action |
| Magazine | 15 rounds | 10 rounds |
| Muzzle velocity | about 945 m/s | about 950 m/s |
| Damage (health) | 150, as vanilla .308 | 220 |
| Weapon health | 350 | 350 |
- Zeroing without an optic: 100 to 800 m, in 100 m steps.
- Jamming: with a magazine fitted the rifle doesn't jam. Fired with no magazine, from rounds loaded straight into the chamber, it jams about 1 shot in 17. Recoil-reducing attachments lower that.
- .338 rounds penetrate better and ricochet less than vanilla rifle rounds.
- The .338 has its own firing and suppressed sounds. The .308 sounds like the CZ 550.
Damage
How the .338 and .308 compare with vanilla rifles. Approximate, from the game's damage falloff.
Unarmoured torso (health damage per hit, 100 kills):
| Rifle | 0 m | 300 m | 500 m | 800 m | One-shot kill out to |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| MCSP .338 | 220 | 198 | 172 | 140 | about 1,280 m |
| MCSP .308, M14 | 150 | 124 | 102 | 75 | about 520 m |
| SV98 | 150 | 123 | 101 | 75 | about 510 m |
| CZ 550 | 150 | 116 | 95 | 71 | about 450 m |
| Mosin | 148 | 109 | 90 | 66 | about 390 m |
Through a plate carrier (torso, vest in pristine condition):
| Rifle | Shots to kill at 0 / 300 / 500 m | One-hit knockout out to |
|---|---|---|
| MCSP .338 | 2 / 2 / 2 | about 960 m |
| MCSP .308, M14 | 3 / 3 / 4 | about 295 m |
| SV98 | 3 / 3 / 4 | about 375 m |
| CZ 550 | 3 / 3 / 4 | about 230 m |
A headshot from either calibre kills at any range.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| The convert action doesn't appear | Take off the optic, magazine, handguard and stock. A ruined rifle or barrel can't be converted |
| A magazine won't attach | It's for the other calibre. The .308 takes the MCSP .308 Magazine, the .338 the MCSP .338 Magazine |
| A vanilla CZ 550 magazine won't attach | Only MCSP magazines fit |
| A scope won't attach | It needs to be a rifle optic that fits the M4. Hunting and PSO scopes don't fit |
| A vanilla suppressor won't attach | Only the MCSP Suppressor and Muzzle Brake fit |
| The suppressor won't attach | The muzzle brake is fitted. Take it off first |
